Marvin J. Krinsky, a retired area business leader from Mansfield, Ohio, has been named chairman of the Board of Advisors of the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University.

Krinsky was elected Chairman during the Center’s recent board meeting. He replaces the late Charles E. Parton.

After a long career as a ceramic engineer with Mansfield Plumbing Products and American Standard, Krinsky has been involved in several non-profit organizations in the Mans-field area. He has also served as President of the Friends of the Ashbrook Center for the past six months. The Friends organization is a foundation which supports the Ashbrook Center’s work financially.

Krinsky said, "I am extremely honored by this to follow in the footsteps of Fred Lennon, Clif White, Bill Rusher and Chuck Parton. This is a wonderful organization and I look forward with great excitement to the good work we will accomplish because of fifteen years of excellence in academic programming. I stand on the shoulders of some pretty great men."

Peter W. Schramm, Executive Director of the Ashbrook Center, said: "Marv Krinsky will be a great Chairman. He not only appreciates and knows the good work that the Center is doing, but he brings to it especially useful business acumen. I look forward to working with him for many years to come."

Krinsky and wife Shirley are the parents of three grown sons.
