David Tucker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Defense Analysis and Co-Director of the Center on Terrorism and Irregular Warfare at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. Before coming to the Postgraduate School, he served in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict as the Deputy Director for Special Operations and as a Foreign Service Officer in Africa and Europe.
Before entering government service, he was the Director of the International Seminar in American Studies at the Claremont Institute and taught at the University of Chicago as a William Rainey Harper Fellow. He holds the Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University and is a member of the Board of Visitors of the Marine Corps University and the Board of Advisors of the Ashbrook Center.
